Susie was adopted as a baby, and because of this she has never had the traditional idea of family. She has questioned God because of feeling abandoned and unloved, yet has come to acknowledge Him as her father; She knows that no matter what the world says, she is the apple of his eye. Susie met many friends through growing up attending First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, one of whom was June Gardner, who greatly influenced Susie’s life. Susie cared for June during the last months and moments of June’s life, and their incredible relationship and faith in God brought one of the nurses at the care facility where June was living to Christ. Susie continues to attend First Presbyterian Church and has invited this nurse’s two children to come to church with her every week because the nurse has to work all day on Sundays. For almost a year now, these children have been attending church with Susie. She welcomes their curiosity in Christ and engages their questions. She also attends church with other friends and nearly every week after church they share a meal together or play games. There are 6 of them: one is 91, one is 65, one is 64, one is 24, one is 14, and one is 10, and they are recruiting more to join their body! Because of her faithfulness and trust in God, Susie has obeyed Him, acknowledging her wounds and creating a church family out of it. God has used his child, Susie, to help create a beautiful picture of the eclectic, motley crew that is the Church. That is true family.

You never know the impact that a young preacher may have on a young person’s life.

My home church in Venice, California had an exuberant young Youth Pastor who loved the kids of the church. He and his wife lead the Vacation Bible School, lead the Choir, planned and supervised our young people’s outings - he was a great “role model.”

You never know what impact you may have on a person’s life. But, that preacher and his wife poured their lives into ours and we were blessed for it.

Since that example of servanthood and love - I have graduated from Christian College and seminary. I have been active in my local church for over 46 years. In fact, now, I am the academic dean of a small Christian college in central California.

Do people have an impact - sure they do and at times you just want to say thanks. Ron and Barb you were my youth pastor - thank you so much for having an impact upon my life.

In today’s poor economic times, many Christians are finding themselves mired in debt and facing bankruptcy. I experienced a bankruptcy ten years ago and remember the shame, loneliness, and stigma it bears, especially as a Christian. Few will discuss it. God asked me to be the voice and to offer his hope through a blog, http://hopeforthebankrupt.com. I have over 2,000 readers. He has taught me obedience as I respond to Him and humility as I reach out to His hurting people.

Working in the medical field I see lots of miracles and numerous times in which the only reason people make it through is because of the work of God`s hands. On a normal routine call one day the elder lady I was attending was in much pain from a severe injury.  After using every medication I had available I asked her if it was ok for me to pray for her… to my surprise she said yes, and I saw God give her peace during the rest of the trip to the hospital, upon returning from this call I told some friends about it and some where shocked that I crossed that line in the medical field known as ” professionalism” but to see Gods healing was amazing, joking around back at the station we said, they were our “5 minute ministries” the small window in which people seek for some kind of comfort in a time of need which so happens to be where God placed us at in those times. Needless to say many of my friends and I in the medical field are now doing this and it`s amazing to see the stories of hope and healing that come out of it in which God asks us to beckon His children unto Him and then we learn to trust and abide in God whole heartedly.

Well, being aware of how God is continously taken out of our public schools. A couple of local church youth leaders and myself began a bible study and prayer meeting, at our local High School. It’s called “Youth for Christ”. Every Tuesday morning before school we meet in the school (with their permission) and invite youth to attend. The three of us lead in rotation each week. A few students at first, now 15 - 20 students attend, young people from all denominations are hearing about Christ. I was blessed to share the message one particular morning, the talk was about other beliefs and how they compare to Christianity. On this morning one of the students attending is “mormon”. She challenged everything I had to say regarding mormon v/s Christianity. I gave her a Teen NLT Study Bible and asked her to read John 14:6. I was’nt sure she would return the following week. Praise God she has not missed a week since.
We have extended to one of our local Middle Schools and recently been invited to a second Middle School to share the gospel during the lunch period each week. I have also been able to promote 91.3 Hope FM Christian Radio and Programming,as well as recruited station volunteers. We are called as messengers to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I did’nt plan for that particular message, it had to be God speaking to her.

Prior to the election a couple of praying ladies came to our radio station and asked for help in calling people of our community together. We put them on the radio and talked about the need for praying for our community and our nation. A pastor came in and offered his church for a weekly prayer meeting. From there it snowballed, churches all over our county were opening their doors and inviting people to come pray. It ended in a standing-room-only community prayer gathering the night before the election that was broadcast live on our radio station, which is a beginning to future prayer gatherings for our community and national leaders. We were overwhelmed with gratitude for God’s great presence and for bringing people together of all races and denominations with a common goal of seeking Him. Since then we’ve been inspired to host other events and it’s given us a great connection to Christians in the community we didn’t know before.
